El-Announce Featuring LM_NET Select
El-Announce is our companion listserv. We launched El-Announce to serve two purposes:
First, and most importantly, we wanted to offer a lighter subscription option for our members who wanted to benefit from the LM_NET discussion without all the daily emails. We publish LM_NET Select via El-Announce up to three times a week. Each LM_NET Select post includes the most informative posts from LM_NET. Since LM_NET Select is personally developed by one of our moderators, you can be assured you're getting the best of LM_NET's ideas, discussions, resource reviews, and humor, and posts are organized so that you can easily follow the discussion in threads. It is much easier to use than the automated digest option.
The second reason for El-Announce is that while we keep LM_NET commercial free, we wanted to allow Commercial Friends a venue to share information and special offers with members. School librarians who subscribe to El-Announce will receive a limited number (usually less than 5 or 6 a week) messages from our Commercial Friends in addition to receiving LM_NET Select posts.
For both our member and vendor supporters, we want to emphasize that we do NOT ever sell or otherwise distribute member addresses. The listserv format allows vendor announcements to be sent directly to our listserv which automates distribution anonymously to our members. Members can discontinue their subscription to El-Announce at any time which will immediately halt both LM_NET Select and vendor announcements.
